Scalise Joins MOSAIC Group

Daniel J. "DJ" Scalise, a resident of Smyrna, has joined MOSAIC Group as an architectural designer. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, DJ began his career working for his father and several other architectural firms in the metro Phoenix area.

After taking a brief hiatus to teach high school history, he moved to Atlanta where he began working with single-family residential projects and expanded into commercial design with multi-family projects.

One of his favorite leisure activities is coaching softball for his three daughters.

MOSAIC Group Wins Chrysalis Award

MOSAIC Group recently won a Regional Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence in a Residential Bathroom Category. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

The same project also won first place in a Bathroom Category during the 2015 Contractor of the Year awards competition sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.

The Chrysalis Awards program recognizes the nation's best work in 15 general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. The competition is open to professional remodelers and design professionals in the United States.
Project: Spotlight: Outdoor Haven

These homeowners requested a year-round space in which they can relax and entertain. Amenities include a fireplace, a built-in gas grill, a Green Egg, a large commercial hood for the grills, storage, a trash receptacle, and a raised bar. The countertops are bluestone.

Houzz Survey Sheds Light on Remodeling

Kitchens, followed by baths and living/family rooms, continue to be the most popular interior remodeling project, according to the 4th Annual Houzz & Home Survey. Nearly one-third of the respondents tackled their kitchen in 2014.

Approximately one in 20 homeowners renovated the entire interior of their home.

Eighty-four percent of homeowners hired a professional to help with their remodeling projects.
