Atlanta Kitchen Remodeler
Classic with Modern Flair
Location: Sandy Springs
The Challenge
The Williamsburg replica home would have suited a 19th-century family just fine, but the chopped-up kitchen/laundry space, along with an odd sitting room attached, was not going to serve a family of five living in metro Atlanta (Sandy Springs) in the 21st century.
The Solution
In a version of “musical chairs,” the interior and kitchen designers swapped spaces and created new ones. The laundry, a new pantry and new mudroom were all placed in a snugly designed small addition adjacent to the kitchen. The original tiny dining room was converted to a lovely sitting room, leaving the large vacated space with large windows to the front and the back yards to be designed as a spacious country eat-in kitchen with an 8-foot farm table for family dining and entertaining. Heart pine flooring and coffered beams are the finishing touches to a warm, inviting kitchen appropriate for all occasions.
