The kitchen of this historic Brookhaven home used to be small, isolated and unwelcoming. The homeowner wanted to revamp the outdated kitchen, increasing comfort and making the space more efficient while maintaining its classic design.
The clever redesign allowed this kitchen 25 percent more storage space than before. Every space is now utilized—from the television above the refrigerator to the pantry storage that flips out of the wall and a wet bar that replaced the previously unused “airplane-size” bathroom. Now the room feels more open and conducive to entertaining company. A laundry room and mudroom were added as well, all keeping within the historic-district footprint regulations. Soapstone countertops and heart-pine flooring sustain the vintage aesthetics of this updated, classic home.
