This 1990s-era transitional style home had an aging back deck that needed to be updated for maintenance purposes. Along with the aged wood planking and deteriorating railings, the deck faced southward and was in full sunshine all day long, making it too hot to use during the spring, summer and fall seasons. The homeowners enjoy contemporary design and wanted to explore a modern style porch. This design has a dramatic flair that reaches up to the sky with a soaring vault to collect natural daylight and provide views to the outdoors. The space under the deck will have a dry ceiling finish to allow entertaining during rain or shine, and radiant heaters inside the porch will expand its use well into our typically mild winter season.
