The Challenge

The homeowners dreamed of transforming their backyard into a space that felt more functional, cohesive, and family-friendly. However, their existing layout had several challenges. The wooden deck was not only showing its age but also felt disconnected from the rest of the backyard, making it a less inviting space. The steeply sloped sidewalk was not only a bit of an eyesore but also a safety hazard, and the landscaping lacked inspiration. Equally as important, they needed more room for their kids to run around – a larger grassy area for playtime was a must. This project required a complete reimagining of the space to bring their vision of an inviting and safe outdoor oasis to life.

The Solution

Work began on a design that would transform the backyard into an expansive, functional space. The deck and pool were visually connected to ensure they felt like a unified part of the outdoor experience. To give the family more room to enjoy the yard, the grassy play area was expanded, creating the perfect space for the kids to run around. The centerpiece of this transformation became a beautiful, covered porch with a cozy fireplace, providing an ideal spot for relaxing or entertaining year-round. Beneath the porch, a sheltered area was created, complete with a TV and a seamless connection to the pool deck, converting the once-fragmented space into a true backyard retreat.

The steep, unsafe sidewalk was addressed by redesigning the stairs and retaining walls, enhancing both safety and visual appeal. Thoughtfully designed landscaping was added to complete the transformation, giving the entire yard a polished, cohesive feel. The result is a backyard that feels intentional, upgraded, and perfect for family living. The homeowners now have a space that’s as functional as it is beautiful, and they couldn’t be happier!
