For some, wine has changed from mere beverage to investment. As with any investment, the way one keeps and protects their wine could make or break the asset.

MOSAIC Group [Architects and Remodelers] will be hosting Cellar Secrets, a complimentary educational program about wine storage, Aug. 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“This will be a mixture of knowledge, so the things we will address are why collect wine, what makes a wine worth keeping, why do some wines age well and the cellar itself,” said Maggie Meroney, wine expert from pH Wine Merchant and Academy.

Meroney is a certified specialist of wine through the Society of Wine Educators as well as a French Wine Scholar certification from The French Wine Society.

The cellar itself will be a topic and Meroney will talk about humidity, light, what makes a successful cellar and dispel some common wine-cellar myths.

“For example, having a wine cellar doesn’t mean everything has to be expensive,” Meroney said.

She will also talk about wine as an investment and give some pointers for those who are new to the wine-selling arena.

“If some of these folks are just starting out we’re going to talk about the wine auction and what to look out for,” Meroney said.

Along with being educational, attendees will be able to try four different wines Meroney said would be “cellar worthy.”

MOSAIC Group is located at 2358 Perimeter Park Drive, Suite 300, Atlanta. To R.S.V.P. email Sylvia Small at sylvia@mosaicdesignbuild.com.
