Sandy Springs Home Remodel
A Family-inspired Redesign
Location: Sandy Springs
The Challenge
How exactly do you move your young Atlanta family of five into a replica of a Colonial Williamsburg home on a lot you love in a location (Sandy Springs) where you have been home-hunting for years?
The Solution
First came an urgent preliminary study of how the house would work for the family and what changes had to be made and could be made. Openings between rooms were greatly expanded to give a sense of openness and light, and some spaces were quite simply “re-assigned” — like the tiny dining room that became a sitting room. By virtue of a mudroom/laundry/pantry addition, the kitchen was transformed into a magnificent dine-in family space with a large dining island and a farm table for family gatherings. Walls were subtly shifted to and fro to make bathrooms bigger, and the bonus room upstairs was taken over for a clever double bathroom with a shared shower. Happy ending: the family fits and loves the home!
